These stakeholders are increasingly calling upon us to use our innovative and solutions-based business approach to address issues of sustainability. Our support of Incognito enabled us to engage in an innovative fundraising campaign which has offered our staff a wide variety of volunteering opportunities – from contributing original artwork, to volunteering time, to offering expertise and upskilling – with a real focus on leveraging our skill and knowledge to create capacity and longer-term impact for the Jack & Jill Foundation.

How was/is this initiative promoted?
The initiative was promoted internally through emails, the Firm's monthly newsletter, information on the intranet, and posters. Externally the event was promoted through the website, social media, TV, radio, and print.

William Fry's support of Incognito supports two core dimensions of CSR – Community and Workplace.

Through Incognito, William Fry was able to support our Community Charity Partner, the Jack & Jill Children's Foundation, raise much needed funds and awareness for the critical work they do to support children up to the age of five who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay.

The initiative also enabled us to engage our staff in a variety of ways from skills-based volunteering and knowledge sharing, to staffing the gallery during the event, to donating original art and providing photography and videography services.

Business Impact:
How has the CSR initiative benefitted your business and demonstrated a win:win in the short-term and/or long-term?

The two aims of William Fry's support of Incognito were staff engagement and to raise critical funds for our Community Partner to continue to carry out their important work.

In terms of staff engagement, through this innovative fundraising initiative we were able to engage more than 60 staff members across all levels and areas of the Firm. Our staff donated 168 hours of their time over four days to staff the event.

Staff also donated of their own original artwork to the exhibition and we had an amateur photographer and vlogger on staff get involved – all of which were fantastic opportunities to encourage creativity and participation in our staff.

Our event staff donated their time and expertise, including providing training on iPads and event software to increase the efficiency of the event and reduce customer wait times (from 5 hours to just over 2 hours).

Our PR and Digital teams work with Jack & Jill over the course of 6 months leading up to the event in the development of communication strategies and online support.

With regards to our goal of helping Jack & Jill raise money, the initiative raised €95,000 (up from €81,000 in 2017) which will provide 6,000 nursing hours for Jack & Jill children and their families.

This project relates to SDG number 3 – Good Health & Wellbeing. The critical work that Jack & Jill does, and that Incognito supports, is the medical care of disabled children and respite care for their families.

This could be through home visits from nurses, with practical tips on how to access the services a child will need. Listening to what parents want for their child and making representations on their behalf. Bereavement support and an online forum for parents. Lobbying the Government and the HSE.

Jack & Jill also provides direct funding to families, enabling them to buy home respite care to give them a break. The Foundation cannot cure the children. But it can help to alleviate some of the difficulties that exist.

What advice would you give a business starting on their CSR Journey?

Incognito is a unique and innovative fundraising initiative that makes art accessible to everyone while raising critical funds to help provide nursing care to severely disabled children under the age of 5.

It is a fantastic model for an arts partnership as it encourages meaningful cooperation between a company and a charity to not only support and encourage creativity but also to promote access to art.

Making art accessible to everyone is at the heart of Incognito. From amateur artists participating in the largest art exhibition in Ireland to children who were able to purchase pieces of art, this event helps to develop an appreciation of and access to the arts for people of all ages and from all walks of life.

The impact of the event is significant for both William Fry and Jack & Jill. For William Fry, support of the event has led to a growing staff engagement in the arts aimed at encouraging wellbeing through art. For Jack & Jill, the event means an ability to provide more than 6,000 hours of nursing care to the children they support.
